Pamalakaya slammed Roxas-Robredo for using the fishers, farmers as pawns

Manila, Philippines – The fisherfolk group Pambansang Lakas ng Kilusang Mamamalakaya ng Pilipinas (Pamalakaya-Pilipinas) lambasted the Liberal Party (LP) standard bearer Mar Roxas and his running mate Leni Robredo for using fishermen and farmers as their political pawns for the upcoming elections.

On April 15, the ruling Liberal Party (LP) convened almost 5,000 farmers and fisherfolk in Pasay to enlist their support to the LP’s tandem, peddling the ‘daang matuwid’ as the path for genuine rural development.

But Pamalakaya said that farmers and fishers’ support for LP is beyond the realm of possibility, for those sectors are not oblivious on what the LP especially Roxas have done to inflict more hardships to the already poverty stricken rural  people.

Mar Roxas is delusional and pretentious for thinking that he will get support from the sectors that suffered from the fantasies of ‘daang matuwid’.” Salvador France, Pamalakaya vice-chairperson said in a statement.

Fisherfolk hit Mar Roxas on No Build Zone policy

Manila, Philippines – The militant fisherfolk group Pambansang Lakas ng Kilusang Mamamalakaya ng Pilipinas (Pamalakaya-Pilipinas) chided Liberal Party (LP) standard bearer Mar Roxas for espousing  the ‘no build zone’ policy during the 2nd Presidential debate yesterday.

Roxas made a pitch on this policy in the context of a question on  the status of the rehabilitation of  the devastation caused by super typhoon Yolanda, claiming the ‘no build zone’ policy,  have secured victim-families out of  danger zone areas.

But Pamalakaya said the real intent of this policy is to take over and replace the fishing villages and communities with commercial and eco-tourism projects. The No Build Zone policy prohibits the fisherfolk and other residents to build houses and settle 40-meters away from the shoreline.

Manila, Philippines – Liberal Party (LP) standard bearer Mar Roxas earned the ire of the fisherfolk group for his answer on how to alleviate the poverty among fisherfolk asked to him during yesterday’s first Presidential debate.

In a statement, the Pambansang Lakas ng Kilusang Mamamalakaya ng Pilipinas (Pamalakaya-Pilipinas), an alliance of fisherfolk organizations in the Philippines said that Roxas’ solution to provide fisherfolk a lower interest loans is an insult to the sector.

Manila, Philippines – The militant fisherfolk group Pambansang Lakas ng Kilusang Mamamalakaya ng Pilipinas (Pamalakaya-Pilipinas) slammed Camarines Sur 3rd District Representative and Liberal Party (LP) Vice-President candidate Leni Robredo on the anomalous fish port construction in the province of Calabanga, Camarines Sur.

Rep. Leni Robredo is the proponent of the Municipal Fish Port in Calabanga, the lone fishing municipality of the 3rd district of Camarines Sur. It has been given an allocation of P50M in 2012 by the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) and P78M by the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA), both of which came from the unconstitutional Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP).
